The history of the Black Hand can be summed up in several major conflicts.
The First Trader War:
Black Hand Vessels attack Tegemen System resulting in a response from the Trader Consortium. The Black Hands had few vessels initially and militarize quickly. Major production centers on both sides were destroyed. Rana, the home system of the Black Hand was abandoned during the middle of the war and production moved into Sadr and its surrounding system, with only nominal colonies left to maintain an illusion of importance. It is during this war that one of the famous vessels of the Black Hand, the Lord Raven, is constructed and is used to breach the defended Tegemen wormhole as a precursor to further military exploits in the region. A large fleet of Black hand ships are destroyed in an attack in Sadr prompting peace negotiations.
The war is concluded by the Nusaken Treaty negotiated by Ravenwolf which saw the creation of a neutral zone as well as giving the Trader consortium mining rights in Sadr.
The Borg Wars:
With knowledge of attacks on the Trader Consortium by the Borg on Tegemen, the Black Hand attacks the Borg in Asellus in hopes of preventing Borg from gaining a foot hold and destabilizing the the region. The Borg are noted both for their prolific numbers and prolific colonial repair capabilities. Rana is again attacked but by this time the importance of Rana had been reduced to minor tax colonies. By this time the extent of Black Hand wormhole charts was some 10 systems.
The Treaty of Asellus ends the war stipulating Sadr as neutral space and the recognition of the ownerships of Merope and its derivative systems of Situla and Sabik.
The War is concluded with no major gains or losses for each side.
The Skat Intervention:
Several member states in the Skat join the Black Hand who were at war with the Goonsquad. The Black Hand sends the bulk of its fleet to Situla, destroying several fighters and several colonies before agreement is created and peace is restored with Black hand holdings maintained.
The 2nd Trader War
A Black hand member attacks and destroys a large number of ships in Tegemen in violation of the Nusaken Treaty. To the dislike of the Black Hand the Trader consortium demands the expulsion of the member state. To prevent an impending war on the Black hand, the member withdraws of his own volition. This is seen as interference in guild internal affairs and helps to set the stage for the 2nd Trader War.
One of the member state of the Trader consortium attacks one of the member states of the Black Hand after reported decay in relations between the two, triggering the 2nd Trader War.
Massive Black Hand fleets mass on the Trader-Black Hand border and descend on Tegemen resulting in the systems destruction. The traders had large numbers and were well armed, however their vessels suffered do to light armor and reported inner conflicts between members also contributed to the military victories of the Black Hand in the early part of the war. The Black Hand proceeds to declare war on all major members of the Traders Consortium. Notable campaigns in Tyl and Pleione saw the last visages of the Trader's control fade from the Old Systems.
Large fleets pursue the Traders into various other systems. This war is noted in its use of newer member states to the empire rather than the traditional member states that had largely made up the assault forces of previous conflicts.
